Erran Sharpe, trauma therapist in Port Angeles, WA

Erran Sharpe is a therapist who specializes in helping people heal from traumatic events. He is shown here in the garden outside his private office in Port Angeles.

My own years of intensive therapy transformed me—and led me to my life’s work.

As a scientist for the National Park Service, I had a good education and career. But I was hurting as I struggled to maintain relationships.

After years of trying to figure it out on my own, I found a therapist who I sensed could help me. There, I began a journey inward, which led me to my spiritual heart. I spent a year and a half listening to myself and finally discovered what I needed. It was daunting, but it also set me free. Because shortly after, I leapt into my personal unknown: I re-trained as a therapist, and never looked back.

I practice therapy because I know it works; it turned my life around. It’s also my contribution to life: to others’ lives, when I see them improve… and to my own life, because I continue to grow personally. And so I dedicate the merit of my personal experience to anyone who can benefit from it.

Every person longs for connection – to their own heart, to other people, to the natural world, to truth. My mission is to connect with you and guide you as you explore your incredible inner landscape; we are both transformed by the sunbeam of compassion that illuminates our path.

Today, my methods draw from both traditional therapy and spiritual guidance. And I eagerly learn new ways to explore our inner landscapes so that I can bring more healing into the world.

I graduated from the Leadership Institute of Seattle (a Bastyr University affiliate) in 2002 with a master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. I live in Port Angeles, with my wife and our two beautiful children.

My wife and children are a source of satisfaction and purpose in my life. The mountains, rivers, and ocean of the Pacific Northwest nourish my soul, as do meditation, drumming, dancing, and music.
